About This Quote

The people we know in real life are important to us even if they aren’t the best friends we have. However, when we read a book, we can really get to know a character and fall in love with them. A book is a safe place where we can escape from the pressures of our own lives or even from our own lives. We can become closer with fictional people who may not even exist in reality.

In addition, most books make us think about what it would be like if these characters actually existed. In the movie “To Kill A Mockingbird,” author Harper Lee was inspired by a real-life event that occurred during her childhood. The protagonist of the story was based on a girl named Jean Louise Finch who lived a short distance from Harper Lee.

Harper Lee used an event that many people could relate to as a key element of the book and made it into a film that was nominated for an Academy Award for best picture in 1962.
